Rohan Dennis will face formal charges in the death of his wife and Olympian Melissa Hoskins, Australian prosecutors confirmed Tuesday.
Dennis, 34, will go before an Australian court over the death of Hoskins, who was struck by a vehicle Dennis was driving and later died from injuries in an incident in Adelaide, Australia, during New Year’s Eve weekend.
According to AAP, prosecutors will pursue charges against Dennis for “causing death by dangerous driving and driving without due care.”
Prosecutors went before an Adelaide Magistrates Court to confirm that charges will be sought in the death of the 32-year-old ex-pro and Olympian.
Details of the incident remain under wraps, but survelliance video showed that Hoskins was struck by a vehicle driven by Dennis near the couple’s home in an Adelaide suburb.
Hoskins was rushed to a local hospital, but later died from the injuries. She was later celebrated in a memorial ceremony in her hometown of Perth.
Dennis has been on bail since his arrest, and will go before a court on October 30 to face the charges, AAP reported.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment, AAP reported.
