What is a Facebook video downloader?

A Facebook video downloader is an online tool that helps you save an accessible Facebook video to your device. DownBurg is designed for videos you are allowed to view and save. Paste a Facebook video link, check the available result, choose an available quality, and save the supported file from your browser.

DownBurg works on phones, tablets, and computers without requiring a separate downloader application. The available resolution depends on the source video and what can be retrieved from Facebook.

Download Facebook videos in HD, 1080p, 2K and 4K

When higher-quality versions are available from the source, DownBurg can provide the corresponding download option. Video quality is not artificially increased: if a Facebook video is only available in a lower resolution, the downloader cannot create genuine 1080p, 2K, or 4K detail.

For the best result, use the original Facebook video URL and choose the highest quality actually offered by the source. This keeps the download closer to the quality of the video available on Facebook.

What can you use DownBurg for?

  • Save Facebook videos that you are authorized to access.
  • Download supported Facebook Reels from an accessible link.
  • Choose an available video quality and save the supported file.
  • Use the downloader from a mobile or desktop browser.
  • Learn how to download a Facebook video without installing extra software.

Do not use the service to bypass privacy controls, authentication, copyright restrictions, or access limits. Only save content when you have the right or permission to do so.

Facebook video downloader online: save FB videos and Reels as HD MP4

Facebook has no built-in “save to phone” button for most videos. The Save option inside the app only bookmarks a post. The video itself stays on Facebook’s servers and disappears if the owner deletes it or you lose your connection. DownBurg fills that gap. It is a free Facebook video downloader that runs in your browser: you give it the link of a public video, it finds the file Facebook already serves to everyone, and you save it as an MP4 on your phone, tablet or computer.

You do not need an account, an app, an APK or a browser extension. If you have ever searched for an fb video downloader, a Facebook to MP4 converter or a quick way to download a Facebook video from a link, this page does exactly that, and the same steps work for Reels.

How to download a Facebook video from a link

The whole process is copy, paste, download. The only part that trips people up is copying the right link, so start there.

Step 1: Copy the Facebook video link

  • In the Facebook app (Android or iPhone): tap Share under the video, then choose Copy link.
  • In a mobile or desktop browser: open the video, click the three dots or the Share button and choose Copy link. On a computer you can also copy the address from the browser’s address bar once the video is open on its own page.
  • For Reels: use the same Share → Copy link option, then paste it on the Facebook Reels downloader page or in the box at the top of this page.
  • Short links such as fb.watch and the newer “share” links are fine. Do not edit or shorten the link yourself.

Step 2: Paste it and press Download

Paste the link into the box at the top of the page and press the Download button. DownBurg checks the link and shows the video with the quality options that are really available for it.

Step 3: Save the MP4 to your device

Choose the quality you want and download the file. Where it ends up depends on your device:

  • Android: usually the Downloads folder in your Files app; Chrome’s download list shows it too. Many phones also show it in the Gallery or Photos app.
  • iPhone and iPad: use Safari. After the download finishes, tap the download icon in the address bar to open it, then Share → Save Video to put it in Photos, or keep it in the Files app.
  • Windows, Mac and Linux: the file goes to your browser’s Downloads folder. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari and Opera all work, so no special Facebook downloader extension is needed.

Video quality: HD, 1080p and 4K explained

Many people search for a “Facebook video download 4K” or “1080p” option, so here is the honest version. Facebook decides which resolutions exist for each upload. Most videos are offered in an SD version and an HD version, and some uploads reach 1080p. True 4K is rare on Facebook, because uploads are re-compressed. DownBurg downloads the best version Facebook serves for that particular link, usually HD where it exists. It cannot add detail that the original upload never had, so a 360p clip will not become 4K.

If a video looks soft after downloading, open the original post and check the quality setting in Facebook’s own player. If Facebook shows it in low quality too, that is the source file.

Watermarks, MP4 and audio

  • No DownBurg watermark. The file you get is the video as Facebook serves it. We do not stamp a logo on it. If the original creator placed their own logo or text in the picture, that stays, because it is part of the video.
  • MP4 format. MP4 plays on virtually every phone, TV, laptop and editing app.
  • Audio only (MP3). DownBurg saves the video file. It does not convert Facebook videos to MP3. If you need only the sound, download the MP4 first and then extract the audio with a media app on your own device, and only for audio you are allowed to keep.

Facebook video not downloading? Check these first

  1. Is the video public? Open the link in a private or incognito window. If it asks you to log in, the video is restricted and the tool will not get the file.
  2. Was it deleted or moved? If the post no longer plays in Facebook, it cannot be downloaded either.
  3. Did you copy the whole link? A cut-off link or one with extra text pasted around it will fail. Copy it again with Share → Copy link.
  4. Is it a live stream? Wait until the broadcast has finished and been posted as a regular video.
  5. Region or network limits. Some videos are blocked in certain countries. A VPN, strict ad blocker or restrictive Wi-Fi can also interrupt the download, so try mobile data or pause the blocker for this page.
  6. Try again later. Facebook changes how it delivers video from time to time. If a link that worked last week fails today, retry after a while.

Online downloader, app or extension: which is better?

Searches like “Facebook video downloader app”, “APK” and “Chrome extension” are common, but each has a catch. Apps and APK files from outside the official stores are a frequent source of malware and fake permissions requests. Extensions can read the pages you browse. An online downloader runs in a normal browser tab, installs nothing and leaves nothing behind, which is why DownBurg is built that way. You can also add this page to your phone’s home screen for one-tap access, so it behaves like an app without being one.

Use it responsibly

Facebook videos belong to the people who made them. Save videos you own, videos you have permission to keep, or clips you are legitimately allowed to use for personal viewing. Do not re-upload someone else’s work as your own, and never share your Facebook password with any downloader. DownBurg will never ask for it. Copyright owners can contact us through the copyright page, and you can read how the site works on the About page.
